Jakie Calvin Sutton, 90 of Gibsonville passed away peacefully on Thursday May 11, 2017 at Peak Resources in Graham.

Jakie was born in Caswell County on May 22, 1926 the son of the late Arba Sutton and Ida Skeens Sutton. He worked in the textile industry and retired from Cone Mills. Jakie attended New Hope Baptist Church. On September 2, 1945 he married the former Grace May who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by three great grandchildren, eight sisters and two brothers.

Surviving are three sons, Calvin Sutton and wife Teresa of Gibsonville, Rick Sutton and wife Marsha of Burlington and Tim Sutton of Elon; six grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; one brother in law and two sisters in law 

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday at New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Hobbs officiating. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and all other times at the home of Ricky Sutton, 1414 Collins Drive Townhouse A4 Burlington, NC. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to New Hope Baptist Church 1525 Flora Ave, Burlington, NC 27217 or Springwood Presbyterian Church PO BOX 5 Whitsett, NC 27377.
