Pauline Mateosky

April 26, 1934 ~ December 3, 2017 (age 83) 83 Years Old

Pauline Crawford Mateosky, died December 3rd, 2017 at 12:30 pm at the Alamance Hospice House of Burlington, North Carolina.  She spent her final days surrounded by the love and care of her children.  Pauline was born to Vera Francis Kail and Howard James Crawford in Uniontown, Pennsylvania on April 26, 1934. She graduated from Uniontown Hospital Nursing School where she earned her degree as a Registered Nurse. (RN) She went on to practice nursing, spent time working at George Washington University in Washington DC, as well as enjoyed her time as a school health nurse. She married John George Mateosky on November 24, 1960.  They lived most of their lives in Binghamton, NY where they raised their four children.  Polly, as known to her family and friends, was an active golfer, gardener and a member of the Chenango Bridge Garden Club for many years.  She was a supportive wife and mother and an active member of the United Methodist Church.  She was a wonderful cook, mother and friend.  She loved spending time with family and friends and created many memories while passing on her love of card playing.  She is survived by her four children, James (Jim) Mateosky, of Costa Rica, John (Jack) Mateosky and wife Helen of West River, Maryland, Paul Mateosky of Matthews, North Carolina, and daughter Vera Lyn Gillespie and husband Todd of Siler City, North Carolina.  She also leaves behind five beautiful grandchildren, William Mateosky, Megan Mateosky, Jacqueline Mateosky, Natalie Hamel and John Mateosky, and her sister Joann Crawford Bodle of Harrisonburg, Virginia.  A gathering of friends and family will be held to celebrate her life on Tuesday December 5.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the National Audubon Society 225 Varick St, 7th Fl. New York, NY 10014 212-979-3196 http://www.audubon.org Sign an online guest register at www.omegafsc.com.
