I was saddened to see that Bill had passed. It was unexpected news for me. Bill and I became friends when I ran for County Commissioner in 2004. He was a huge advocate and worked among his friends to get their vote, as well as helped with my database. We saw each other on a fairly regular basis after that and he was always had kind words to say and optimistic about life, in general. I will miss seeing him at the table.

The community will also miss this gentleman.

Take care,
Cindy Brady

Bill Carothers was a great and hearty soul; he had wisdom and humor to add wherever he was. He joined students and others one night when we flashed lighted Vote Bernie signs from a bridge over I-85. He attended Alamance Peace Action meetings and was about to give a talk on his Vietnam War days resisting from inside the military in Fayetteville. His work is highlighted in the book Home Front and another one. His passing is a loss for the whole community.

God cares for those who have a broken heart; Psalm 34:18 assures us that he is close to them. Psalm 147:3 says: "He heals the brokenhearted; he binds up their wounds". Please accept my sincere condolences. Always remember God loves you and he cares for you! (Psalm 62:7,8; Psalm 31:24) jw.org

The leadership of the Communist Party USA mourns the loss of Bill Carothers, long time activist in the working class movement of North Carolina. Bill was the victim of a very serious industrial accident but carried on his work and fought for his convictions. Wherever people’s actions were taking place Bill could be found in the middle of the activity distributing his favorite newspaper the “People’s World.” His consistent message to the movement was “unite and fight.” He struggled against racism and anti-union ideology. Bill will be greatly missed but the results of his work will continue in the forward progress in North Carolina.

I'm so sorry to learn of Bill's passing. He was a good man who cared about other people, his community, his friends and family. I will miss him, especially his sweet smile. It was a joy to see the way he loved his little grandson.

I am so saddened by this news. Bill was a good man, with a passion for advocacy. We walked a many walks, we designed t-shirts together, we spoke to many many people together about mental Illness. Bill was a true advocate and he will be missed by many.

My heart goes out to the family, bless you all.
