Barbara "Jean" Johnson, 79 of Mebane passed away at home on Saturday October 29, 2016. 

Jean was born in Spaulding County, Georgia on July 19, 1937 the daughter of James and Nollie Bishop Madaris. She was formerly employed with Spaulding County Schools and was a homemaker for most of her adult life. Jean enjoyed trips to the beach and the North Carolina mountains, spent many hours with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
and never met a stranger. She had many life-long friends, loved music and sang in a trio with her best friends when she was in high school. Many weekends were spent singing at homecomings and revivals for numerous churches. But her first priority was to her sweetheart Ronald Patrick Johnson whom she married on August 20, 1956, celebrated 60 years of marriage together and whom survives her. 

Surviving in addition to her husband Ronald of the home are two daughters, Regina Whitley of Mebane and Laurie Johnson (Holt) of Hillsborough; grandchildren: Dina Johnson (Julian) of Mebane, Adam McIver of Charlotte, Heather Smith (Bryan) of Snow Camp, Kirstie Whitley of Mebane;  a brother Jimmy Madaris of Griffin.GA; 4 great-grandchildren and many neices and nephews

 
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 7 pm on Thursday at Omega Funeral Service & Crematory Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
