Anne M, Shepherd, 99 passed away Saturday March 18, 2017 surrounded by family at Twin Lakes Community Coble Creek Healthcare. 

Anne was born in Alamance County on September 22, 1917 the daughter of the late Thomas Moody and Maude Staley Moody. She was a woman of unwavering faith and made anyone who was lucky enough to know her feel like part of the family.  She was kind and gentle but also quick with a smile or witty comeback.  Anne was devoted to her family and friends; she was especially fond of her youngest great grandson, Kaleb, who visited her often at Twin Lakes and helped “take care of MawMaw”. She was a wonderful lady who will be missed by all who knew her.  She was employed in the textiles industry and retail sales for many years. Anne was a member of First United Methodist Church of Elon. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Howard Shepherd, three sisters, three brothers, and her son-in-law, Danny Patton.

Surviving are two daughters, Peggy Mills and husband Buddy of Burlington and Margaret Patton of Gibsonville; a sister Clara Dennis; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 am on Thursday at First United Methodist Church of Elon. The family will receive friends following the service. Interment will be private.

The family would like to extend its sincere gratitude to the staff of Twin Lakes Community. You cared for Anne with love, compassion, and like she was part of your own family; for that we will be forever grateful.
