William Carroll, 86 of Liberty passed away peacefully at the home of his daughter on September 24, 2021.
William was born and raised in Youngstown, Ohio and was an accomplished golfer at a young age. He was the medalist for Youngstown East High School as they were the first local team to win the State of Ohio Boy’s golf championship in 1952. An Air Force veteran, he became a golf professional at Wallingford Country Club in Wallingford, CT. He returned to his home town to marry the love of his life Lena Palomba and became head professional at Mill Creek Park Golf Course. Later, he became the head professional at Forest Oaks Country Club in Greensboro, NC. A consummate sales person, he achieved many awards at both Trailmobile Trailers and General Ionics. He was a devoted family man who worshipped his wife and daughter, Sandy Coble. He spent the last years of his life under Sandy’s care. He loved to cook, grill and enjoy a good cocktail and glass of wine. He enjoyed travel to Arizona, Florida and going on cruises with friends and family. He was preceded in death by his wife and also his son in law Jackie Coble and grandson Christopher Coble. He is survived by his daughter Sandy and other family. He always told his golfing buddies leaving the course, “ See you at the pump!”
