Virginia Jean Jones

Virginia Jean Jones, 73, a US Army Veteran, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2021 at the VA Medical Center in Durham. 

Virginia was born in Harlan County, Kentucky on March 16, 1947 the daughter of the late Louis Ketron, Jr. and Elaine Lankford Ketron. She was a US Army Veteran and a wonderful housewife to her husband Marven whom she met while serving together in the Army. Jean loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren  and spending time with them.  she was a accomplished Artist and enjoyed painting and teaching Art.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter Shawna Jean Jones, her brother Harry Ketron and sister Phyllis Newcomer.

Surviving are her husband of 54 years Marven Jones; a son Marven "Joey" Jones and wife Tasha; two daughters, Laura Trahan and husband Irvin and Natalie Estes and husband Jeff; seven grandchildren, Corey Lawson, Cody Lawson, Dillon Mansfield, Hannah Mansfield, William "Will" Jones, Elliott Jones and Samuel Jones; two great grandchildren, Conner Lawson and Carlyeen Lawson; a sister Bay Jones and husband Phillip as well as numerous other family, friends and neighbors from North Carolina to Kentucky. 

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made in Virginia's name to the VA Medical Center.
