Teresa Gail Smith, 59 of Prospect Hill passed away peacefully on September 28, 2020 at UNC Healthcare Chapel Hill. 

Teresa was born in Alamance County on July 8, 1961 the daughter of the late William Vance Smith and Louise Foust Smith. She was employed as a knitter with Pickett Hosiery before becoming unable to work due to a disability. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother,  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister Kathy Bailey and a nephew Michael Shane Simpson. 

Surviving are her husband of 34 years Melville Journigan; two daughters, Sara Lunsford and Jamie Meeler; two sons, Jeremy Eli Journigan and Melville "Dane" Journigan; ten grandchildren, Angel Campbell, Tyler Journigan, Mason Falls, Abigail Journigan, Kymber Looper, Gage Gulley, Kyleigh Lunsford, Kendall Lunsford, Jeremy "Coy" Journigan and Hunter Journigan; two sisters, Anna Sutton and Pamela Simpson and one brother Billy Smith. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 pm on Monday at Omega Funeral Service & Crematory Chapel with Rev. Stephen Hall officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Social distancing is required and only 25 family members are allowed to attend the service portion.
