Stephen ‘Steve’ Hoyle Kinney, 75, of Burlington passed away unexpectedly on October 26, 2023 at Alamance Regional Medical Center.

Stephen was born in Alamance County on October 10, 1948 a son of the late Hoyle Lee Kinney and Lois Durham Kinney. He was a US Army Vietnam veteran and worked in the textile industry for many years. He loved Jesus, being a Diddy and PawPaw and everyone knew he was a diehard Duke Blue Devil fan. He enjoyed living in the country feeding the animals that seemed to enjoy his company. He loved to talk and show off his porch garden.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Don Kinney.

Stephen is survived by two daughters, Jami Allen (Jermaine) and Stephanie Kinney (Terry); five grandchildren, Machai Smith, Nathanael "Nate" Smith, Josiah Walker, TJ Walker and JJ Allen; two brothers, Timothy Kinney and Mark Kinney; a sister Amy Mangione, his nephews Josh Williams, Travis Greeson and Brandon Kinney and a special friend Darlene Johnson. He never met a stranger-he always had a smile to give and always ready to tell anyone ‘love you through Christ Jesus’.

No formal services are planned. Family will hold a Celebration of Life balloon release at Pine Hill Cemetery on Nov.11, 2023 at 11am-please feel free to join the family.
