Larry Cecil Waller Sr. "Grumppy" 80 of Burlington passed away on May 5, 2022 at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
Larry was born in Guilford County on April 10, 1942 a son of the late Logan and Wanda Wall Waller. He retired from Elon University where he worked in the paint department for many years. Larry loved to paint, watch wrestling and color in his numerous coloring books. He was a volunteer firefighter for District Station 28 and also served in the US Army at Fort Bragg.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter in law Ashley Causey Waller; wives, Jerline Hall Waller, Gwendolyn Moore Waller and Virgina Summers Waller, a sister Sheila Wagner brother in law John Wagner, niece KarenWagner, nephew Mark Wagner and grand daughter Melissa Dawn Smith.
Surviving are his daughter Larrelle Waller Long; his son Larry Cecil Waller, Jr.; step daughters, Carol Strader, Janice Smith (Ken), Gala Hill (Darryl) and Dean Smith; sisters, Deborah Hurdle (John) and Ava Thompson; his former wife, Betty Jo Waller; honorary family, Amanda Weeks (Gene), Alan Mullis and Leslie Brown; his special fur baby "Brat Boy"; grandchildren, Brittany Strader (Lee), Wesley Strader, Stephanie Hollifiled (Logan) and Jordan Smith, Kristy Smith, Voight Smith (Michelle), Christopher Stevenson (Natalie), Lynsey Hill, Austin Hill and many nieces, nephews and great grandchildren.
A Graveside Service with military honors will be held at 2 pm on Friday, May 20, 2022 at Alamance Memorial Park Cemetery. You may share an online condolence by visiting www.omegafsc.com. Arrangements are in the care of Omega Funeral Service & Crematory.
