LaRue Whittemore

LaRue Whittemore, 91 of Liberty, NC peacefully took her leave of this life to be with Jesus on November 9th, 2021 immediately following time spent in her daughter’s arms as they held hands at Alamance Regional Medical Center.

LaRue was born in Asheboro, NC on March 13, 1930 the daughter of Margaret Lillian Way and Amos Cone Way.  She was a homemaker who was dearly loved and blessed by all who knew her gentle smile and kind spirit. With her heart she shared her deep love with everyone. With her hands she did lovely oil paintings, was a seamstress and cooked wonderful meals throughout her life. Her strength was found within her wisdom.

She is survived by an only daughter, Diana Palmares along with two grandchildren, Damian and Vespera Palmares, and Vespera’s fiancé Abner Porzio.  She also has a great grandson, Darryn Victor Palmares and two sisters, Sue Gregson and Jan Way.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 on Saturday, November 20th at Mt Pleasant United Methodist Church with Pastor Keith Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The Family will welcome friends in the Fellowship Hall across the street from the church following the service.
