La-Juan Russell, of Gibsonville, NC passed away Friday, March 15, 2019 at Alamance Regional Hospital after a long and courageous battle with kidney and liver disease. She was hospitalized recently for hip replacement surgery that ultimately led to pneumonia and kidney failure.
La-Juan was born in Burlington, NC on August 27, 1955, the daughter of John David Sims Sr and Bessie Ellis Sims. She retired after 20+ years in the healthcare residential treatment services. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time at the beach.
Surviving are her husband, Lonnie Russell of the home. Children, Mack Russell and finance Rebecca, David Russell and wife Amanda, Marsee Russell and finance Billy, Ricky Russell and wife Jessica and Marshall Russell and finance Desiree, 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, her brother, David Sims and finance Kathy, sisters Carol Henson and husband Tom and Janelle Taylor and husband Irvin.
The family will receive friends and family at 2pm on Sunday, March 17 at the home of her son David Russell at 12261 NC Hwy 119 South Burlington, NC. A Celebration of Life service will be held in Holden Beach April 13, 2019.
