Ms. June Bingham Freeman, daughter of the late Elizabeth Shavers Bingham and Hilton Thomas Bingham was born in Alamance County, January 8, 1934, and entered eternal rest May 3, 2022.
Everyone who knew June knew of her lifelong love not only of people but animals, especially dogs. Her love of animals was evident in her profession as Animal Technician at the Howard Beach Animal Clinic, New York. Her kindness and love of people was demonstrated in her work as a Certified Nurse Assistant, an AT&T Operator and as a Habilitation Specialist with Ralph Scott Life Services but mostly as a friend and family member.
June loved fishing and cooking, she tinkered around with the guitar and had a beautiful singing voice that she was shy about but if you were lucky enough to hear it was really a treat. She is probably known mostly for her favorite saying “umph, umph, umph”, which was always open to the context and your interpretation. She was auntie “mom” to seven nieces and nephews that spent the summers with her and “Sis” every summer for years.
June Carol is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and elder sister Bernice Holloway James. She leaves behind one sister, Betty G. Woods, a special niece Patsy Byrd, a special great niece and nephew Courtney and Cedric and one great nephew, Legend, as well as a host of additional nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
At June’s request, in lieu of a service there will be a celebration of life ceremony for immediate family only.
The family extends sincere gratitude to the staff at Carolina Pines who cared for and made June comfortable in her final days.
