John "Richard" Newell

John "Richard" Newell, 66 of Graham passed away peacefully on October 15, 2023 at his home surrounded by family. 

Richard was born in Alamance County on August 6, 1957 a son of the late Shirley Newell and Carolyn Wheeley Newell. He worked as a truck driver for most of his career and was a member of New Vision Community Church. Richard was a very loving and giving man. 

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Brenda Newell and Cathy Myers. 

Surviving is his wife of 40 years Debbie Coble Newell; two children, Shea Forbis (Blair) and Erica Parriman (Chris); three grandchildren, Ava Forbis, Macy Forbis and Vera Chrismon; a step granddaughter, Emery Parriman and numerous other family members and friends. 

A celebration of life service will be held at 3 pm on Thursday at New Vision Community Church with Pastors Charlie Agnew and Stephen Hall officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-3 pm prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family gratefully asks that memorials be made to New Vision Community Church.
