John Hamlin Obituary

Graham

John L. Hamlin of Graham, North Carolina passed away Thursday May 6th at the age of 89 after a short illness.

John was born in Garden City, New York on February 11, 1932, the son of Francis and Clara Hamlin. John attended Garden City High School and graduated from Colgate University. After college, he served in the United States Army and was stationed in Thailand. He was employed as a Vice President of Sales at Anderson Products for 30 plus years. His career in medical sales took him all over the world, including Europe and Asia, which he thoroughly enjoyed. In 1986, he was transferred down to North Carolina and quickly became a huge UNC fan. He was also a Brooklyn Dodgers fan and a lifelong NY Mets and Giants fan. A gourmet cook, he loved to prepare elaborate dinners - beef bourguignon, coquilles St. Jacques and swordfish almondine were among his favorites. After retiring from Anderson Products, he enjoyed playing golf and even scored a hole in one in a Senior Amateur tournament. He also worked as a starter at the Challenge Golf Course in Graham and managed their newsletter.

John is survived by his wife Carole of 60 years, children John of Tennessee, Lisa (and Angelo) of New York, Laurie and Steven of North Carolina, grandchildren Emily (deceased), Justin (and Katrina), Christopher and Nicholas and great-granddaughter Emily.

A private service will be held at Pine Hill Cemetery in Burlington, NC on May 10th.
