Helen Marie Bowden Mebane, 74, of Burlington passed away peacefully on July 27, 2022, at AuthoraCare Collective Hospice Home.

Helen was born in Chatham County on January 4, 1948, a daughter of the late Albert Passmore Bowden and Tinnie Coble Bowden. She was a lifelong resident of Burlington and worked as a knitter in the textile industry. Helen was the epitome of a mother and magnified her motherly love “to all her babies”. She often joked with all who crossed her path. Helen’s gentle soul will surely be missed.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her sister Ruby Bowden, and her brothers, Paul Bowden, Royzell Bowden, Junius Bowden, James Everette Bowden, Ralph Bowden, and George Bowden.

Left to cherish her memories is her daughter, Tonya Mebane (Earlie) of Burlington; two sons, Antonio Mebane, and Jay Mebane (Brooke) all of Burlington; six grandchildren, Kalicia Mebane, Devoyae Mebane (Jhalishia), Jessica Cummings, Chance Mebane, Madisyn Mebane, and AJ Mebane; five great grandchildren; three sisters, Dorothy Curtis, Mildred Mason and Lillian Flowers; her brother, Thomas Bowden (Lizzie) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family members and friends.

The family wishes to acknowledge with deep appreciation the many expressions of love, concern and kindness shown to them during this hour of bereavement. And also, to the staff of Springview Assisted Living 1032 N. Mebane Street Burlington, NC and AuthoraCare Collective Hospice Home for all their excellent care during Helen’s last days

A Home Going Celebration will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, August 3rd at Omega Funeral Service & Crematory Chapel with Reverend Zach Barnes officiating. Visitation and public viewing will be held from 12 noon until the service time at the funeral home.
