Glenda Lucas Mitchell, 68, a resident of Burlington, passed away Monday, November 16 at Duke University Hospital after a short fought battle with her health.
Glenda was born in Sanford North Carolina on January 23, 1952. She was the daughter of James and Clara Nell Lucas. She was employed by West Point Stevens and then Walmart on Graham Hopedale Road. She was preceded in death by both of her parents and her sister Frankie Lucas Rasala and her husband Mitch Mitchell Jr.
Glenda was what we call “salt of the earth”. To know her was to love her. She was a wonderful mother, Mema, and friend. She loved spending time with her family and we were lucky to be able to have her in our home and spoil her for the past year. Her favorite place was the beach. You would always find her with a book in hand or 2 to 3 going at one time as she loved to read.
Surviving are her daughter Angela Mitchell, daughter-in-law Allison Caulder, and two grandchildren Lucas and Clara. Also her brother James and his wife Jill, and their children Kyle, Ethan, and Walker Lucas.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date as Covid has limited us. The family will receive friends/condolences at their home at 318 Trail Three Burlington, NC 27215. Sign an online register book at www.omegafsc.com. Arrangements are in the care of Omega Funeral Service & Crematory.
