Edward "ER" Gerringer, Jr. 94 of Gibsonville went to be with our Lord on Friday, February 19, 2021.
ER was born in Guilford County on January 17, 1927 to Edward R. Gerringer, Sr. and Florence Younger Gerringer. He was married 65 years to the love of his life, the late Clara Belle Joyce Gerringer. He served our country proudly in the US Navy during World War II and retired from the Guilford County Prison Farm and also the Guilford County Sheriff's Department. In his free time he enjoyed playing golf. In addition to his wife Clara and his parents he was preceded in death by his seven siblings, Vera, Edward, Ferry, Willie Ann, Edna, Bobby and Carl.
Surviving is his son Danny E. Gerringer of Burlington; a daughter Cheryl Marley and husband Jack of Mebane; three grandchildren, Joshua E. Gerringer (Lauren), Jimmy Halacheff (Kendra) all of Burlington and Barron M. Gerringer (Jenna) of Greensboro; seven great grandchildren, Adriana, Lyric, Willow, Charleston, Harker Mae, River and Hazel Grae.
A Graveside Service will be held at 12 noon on Thursday at Alamance Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor William Baker officiating. Military honors conducted by the US Navy will follow the service at the cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at ER's home in Gibsonville.
