Dwight Lee Murray, 76 of Snow Camp passed away on April 8, 2024 at Moses Cone Medical Center in Greensboro.
Dwight was born in Guilford County on June 14, 1947, son of the late Jim Murray and Mabel Lee Euliss Murray. Dwight was a graduate of Southern Alamance High School and then went on to ACCC for technical training in drafting. After college, he relocated to Newport News, Virginia and worked for the federal government as a draftsman helping to draw the wiring diagrams for the U.S.S. John F. Kennedy. After his work there he would join the US Army National Guard and relocate back to Alamance County. Dwight was named "Soldier of the Year" while serving his country. Upon his discharge from the National Guard, Dwight worked with his father and then would go on to open his own business, Dwight Murray Grading and Clearing.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Archie Murray.
Surviving him is his beloved wife of 48 years, Robin Rich Murray; his son, Blane Murray; a niece Debra Murray Johnson (Chris) and a nephew David Murray (Mindy); and numerous other family members and good friends.
A celebration of Dwight's life will be held at 3:30 pm on Sunday at Mount Hermon United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 2-3:30 pm prior to the service at the church and all other times at the home of Billie Rich, 5723 Mt. Hermon Rock Creek Road, Snow Camp, NC 27349. In lieu of flowers the family gratefully appreciates any donations to Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church, PO Box 1060 Graham, NC 27253-1060.
