Dr. Fernando Augusto Pinto Ribeiro Neto, 63 years old, a resident of Mebane, NC, passed away on Saturday April 24, 2021, at home.

Fernando was born in Recife, Brazil, on April 12, 1958, the son of Glauco Augusto Pinto Ribeiro and Marileide Figueiredo Ribeiro. He obtained his medical degree in Brazil and moved to the United States in the early eighties to follow a science-oriented career. He was a brilliant scientist who worked in renowned laboratories specialized in endocrinology, hormonal action, and cancer research. Fernando was highly respected by his colleagues and had many friends all over the world. He was a caring human being who was always available to help family and friends. He loved to discuss science, politics, and poetry, and was an avid international soccer fan. He had a deep appreciation for gardens and flowers, the songs of birds, and enjoying life at the beach.

He is survived by his parents, Mr. Glauco Augusto Pinto Ribeiro and Mrs. Marileide Figueiredo Ribeiro, his brothers, Alexandre Henrique Figueiredo Pinto Ribeiro, Aristeu Ricardo Figueiredo Pinto Ribeiro, and Glauco Augusto Pinto Ribeiro Junior, his nieces and nephew, and his former spouse, Dr. Carla Maria Pedrosa Ribeiro.

Fernando had a beautiful soul and touched the lives of many. His passing is being felt with deep sadness by all who knew him. His life will be celebrated at a later time in memorial events in NC and Brazil.
