Graham,
Donald Charles Yakey, 79, a US Air Force veteran of Graham passed away January 28, 2021 at AuthoraCare Hospice Home in Burlington.
Donald was born in Berkshire County, Massachusetts on April 14, 1941 the son of the late Willard Hopkins and Grace Yakey. He was employed as a machinist at Dexco and Burlington Machine for many years. He was a big history buff, specifically Indian, Mountain Man and Civil War. He participated in reenactments pertaining to all three eras. He loved to rebuild classic cars and trucks, specifically Fords (you didn't want to get him started on Chevrolet). He was a Sergeant in the USAF, stationed in Vietnam (not sure of exact dates, but around '65). He served as an airplane mechanic.
Surviving are wife Janet Yakey of Graham, one daughter, Jean Allison Lee of Graham, and one son, Donald Charles Yakey the Second of Graham, two grandsons, Dustin Armfield Coleman and Noah Jordan Lee, both of Graham, one granddaughter, Aria Rose Coleman of Graham, three brothers, Paul Fuller, Eddie Fuller, George Fuller, and 5 sisters, Jill Lane, Marie Mitchell, Judy Carpenter, Diane Olds, and Sandy Alderman. He is preceded in death by two brothers, Jack Fuller and Ricky Fuller, and one sister, Patricia Wood.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 pm on Thursday at Trinity Worship Center. Military honors will follow the service at the church. Sign an online register book at www.omegafsc.com.
