Delbert McCray Stewart, Jr. (DJ), 47, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, November 25, 2021, at ARMC.
DJ was born on April 11, 1974 and grew up in Gibsonville, where he was the son of Delbert McCray Stewart, Sr. and Etta Jean Loye Stewart. DJ was a proud member of the Boy Scouts of America, where he became an Eagle Scout. DJ was talented, imaginative, and thoroughly enjoyed making others smile or laugh. DJ had a passion for art and spent his free time sketching and painting. DJ also spent portions of his adulthood as a volunteer firefighter and mechanic. Most of all, DJ was a loving father, son, brother, nephew, and uncle who loved spending time with his family.
DJ was preceded in death by his father, Delbert Stewart. Surviving are his two children, Austin Stewart and Brooke Stewart; ex-wife, Tonya Stewart; mother, Jean Stewart; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bobby Stewart, Jeremiah Stewart (Rebecca), Jon Stewart (Ronna), James Stewart (Chassity); aunt/honorary sister, Lillian Stewart Wilmoth (Kevin); nieces, Cora, Violet, River, and Annalyse on the way; nephews, Ethan, Waylon, and Cade. In addition, DJ was loved and adored by many other loved ones, including grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 4, at Hope River Church (4355 High Rock Rd, Gibsonville, NC) with Pastor Larry Pope. The family will begin receiving friends prior to the service at Hope River Church at 12 p.m. on Saturday, December 4.
