David Foster

Captain David J. Foster, of Mebane, was born on October 12, 1953 and went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 18, 2019.

David graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1976. After graduating and becoming a CPA working in banking, he took an interest in learning to fly.  He later became a commercial pilot first with Piedmont Airlines followed by US Airways, and retiring from American Airlines in October with 35 years of service.

David enjoyed playing his guitar, reading, traveling, being on his tractor, and building things. But his biggest enjoyment in life was being with his family and especially his grandchildren.  

David was the son of Gilbert and Molly Foster, both deceased, from Spartanburg, SC.  He is survived by his loving wife Cindy of 19 years, sons Eddie (Libby) Dyer, Michael (Jennifer) Dyer, and four grandchildren Ryan, Tyler, Evie, and Colin.  

He is also survived by one sister, Marsha Morris of Raleigh and one brother Robert Foster (Charlene) of Little Torch Key, Florida.  

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 2 at Christ Baptist Church, 400 Newton Road, Raleigh, NC.  Visitation will be held from 1:00 – 1:45 pm. The service officiated by Reverend Don Owen and Dr. David Hogg, will begin at 2:00 pm.
