Craig Douglas Martin
Mr. Craig Douglas Martin 64, of Alamance County, NC passed away at the VA Hospital hospice on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 in Durham, NC.
A native of Amarillo, Texas was the husband of of Glenda M Martin of Burlington, NC and the son of Isreal Angus Martin and Theresa Madeline Leclerc Martin of Masschusets, both deceased.
After highschool in Massachusetts Craig joined the US Army in 1973 and served most of his tour at Fort Bragg, NC in the 82nd Airborne Division until his discharge in 1976. He loved North Carolina and made his home here in Alamance County. Craig worked most of his career in the metal welding and fabricating business for over 40 years until retirement.
Mr Martin loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping and fishing. He could repair just about anything electrical, mechanical or construction related. In his spare time Craig loved to shop flea markets and yard sales looking for treasures and building up a sizable collection of his own. Craig was also an expert in the art of conversation, whether he was discussing old TV shows with family members, reminiscing with old army buddies, or getting to know people for the first time. He never met a stranger.
Mr Martin is survived by his wife, Glenda M Martin of Burlington, NC. Additionally he is survived by daughter Melanie Martin of Pennslvania, son Chris Martin of Maryland, stepson James Cook (Missy) of Germantown, granddaughter Goldie Brendle of Pennsylvania, and step grandaughter Maykayla Cook of Mebane.
Surviving siblings include Ivonne Maxwell (Ken), Sharon McKinnon (Duncan), Steve Martin (Juanita), Rosemary Boothby (George), and Cindy Rizzotto (Scott).
In addition to his parents, Craig was predeceased by siblings Thomas Martin and Denise Nicholson.
Due to the current Covid-19 situation a memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society, 7027 Albert Pick Rd, Greensboro, NC 27409.
