Christopher Oakley Obituary

Christopher Scott Oakley

July 22, 1969 to November 18, 2022

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Christopher Scott Oakley, age 53, of Yanceyville, North Carolina on Friday, November 18, 2022. Chris was born July, 22, 1969 to Jerry and Ava Oakley. He was raised in Yanceyville and was an active member of the community.

He Graduated from Bartlett Yancey High School in 1987. He had successful career, and he retired early from Caswell Correction Center in 2015. After retirement he focused on his family, friends, community and health.

Chris was fortunate enough to have two marriages and four children in his lifetime. He married Cheryl Chambers in1989, which produced their son Seth Oakley. He married Kimberly James in 1993 which produced their children Cameron, Skylar and Ashley.

Chris loved his family and friends. There is nothing he wouldn’t do for those he considered family. He was involved in the community and never met a stranger. He had an amazing sense of humor even during times of struggle. He loved wrestling, the Cowboys football, Duke basketball, and spending time with those he loved.

Chris Oakley is survived by his parents Jerry and Ava Oakley; his sister Angie (Chesley) Talbott; his three children Cameron Oakley  (Alison), Skylar Oakley (Cain), and Ashley Robeson; his nieces and nephews Caylee (John) Gilham, Noah Talbott, Keven Morton (Jordyn), Bailey Talbott, and Jackson Talbott; his aunt Patricia Oakley; his mother-in-law Sherry Cloninger; his soulmate Angie Venable and other family members and friends he considered family.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Aaron and Christine Wright, and Clyde and Swannanoa Oakley; son Seth Oakley; sister-in-law Michelle Morton; and Father-in-Law Oscar “Top” Cloninger.

The family will be receiving friends at 10am Saturday, November 26, 2022 at Oakview Church-111 Oakview Loop Rd., Yanceyville, NC 27379
