Charlotte Thomas Trollinger, 86, of Burlington passed away on April 13, 2023 after a sudden, brief illness.
She will be remembered by her family and friends as the most selfless, kind soul. Charlotte loved her family dearly and went out of her way to make everyone she met feel important, special and loved. Charlotte worked at McEwen Hosiery Mill in Burlington where she met the love of her life, Jim Trollinger. After McEwen, she worked at Western Electric and then retired from Stevenson and Vestal in 1998. In her early years, she was a local bowling Champion, worked with her husband in the Coast Guard Auxiliary, owned a photography business, kept scores at her children’s softball games. But her favorite thing was spending time with and caring for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also loved spending time at the Graham Recreation Department Senior Center where she met many friends that became her extended family. Charlotte was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Haw River.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents Carson Durant Thomas and Susie Ezell Thomas, husband of 39 years James E Trollinger, Sr., 2 infant sons, Siblings: Carson Thomas, Jr., Carolyn Hightower (Bobby), Mary Elizabeth Thomas, Lowell Thomas, Cary Thomas, Craig Thomas, and brother-in-law Dan Ross.
She is survived by son Jimmy Trollinger (Kathy); daughter Julie Toney (Mark); grandchildren, David Toney (Anna) and Ashley Toney; great grandchildren, Devin Toney, Jackson Toney, and Charlotte Toney who is due in July; Brother, Cliff Thomas and Sisters, Claudette Ross, and Cathy Steele (Akers).
A celebration of life service will be held at 1 pm on Friday at Omega Funeral Service and Crematory Chapel. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery.
