Carolyn Gardner Brinkley, 83 of Mebane passed away peacefully at home on January 5, 2021. 

Carolyn was born in Lenoir County on March 21, 1937 the daughter of the late John Calhoun Gardner and Pauline Reynolds Gardner. 
She graduated from the North Carolina School for the deaf in Morganton NC in 1955 where she was on the girls basketball team. She was an avid Tarheel fan and she loved watching TV and doing word puzzles. Spending time with her family was the most important thing to her, her kind heart and sweet soul was adored by everyone she met. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Wayne Brinkley. 

Surviving are her daughter Sue Dixon; son Jimi Shockley (Angela); two step daughters, Debbie Wilberger (Suzette) and Teresa Edwards (Bill); five grandchildren; one great grandson; six step grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; a sister Tomasine Duffy and a brother Cal Gardner. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 pm on Thursday at Omega Funeral Service & Crematory Chapel with Neil Breed, Life Celebrant officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Social distancing will be required. Sign an online register book at www.omegafsc.com.
