Snow Camp,
Alvis “Dean” Smith, Sr., 73 of Snow Camp passed away peacefully on Sunday August 15, 2021 at AuthoraCare Collective Hospice Home in Burlington.
Dean was born in Alamance County on October 9, 1947 the son of the late Clady Ray Smith and Irene Marley Smith. He was employed as a truck driver for most of his career and enjoyed fishing and gardening. Dean loved spending time with his horse Cowboy and his dog Rocky and also enjoyed helping others, especially family and friends.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, David Smith and a sister Elaine Smith.
Surviving is his wife of 53 years Cynthia “Dianne” Duggins Smith of the home; seven children, Rena Medley (Mark), Lea Fogleman (Mike), Alvis Smith, Jr. (Susana), Rodney Smith (Marty), Rebecca Teague (Vance), Ann Fleming (Jon) and Audrey Quigley; two brothers, Buddy Smith (Linda) and Steve Smith (Carol); two sisters, Faye Dickey (late Paul) and Jackie Smith (Shirley); 32 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 6 pm on Thursday, August 19, 2021 in the chapel of Omega Funeral Service & Crematory with Pastor Adam Bellamy officiating.
