Wendy Hope McCormick Cobb, 63, passed away peacefully at her home in Burlington, North Carolina on Tuesday, November 27th, 2018 surrounded by her loved ones. A natural fighter, she fought a tough battle against cancer for two years, but ultimately, God called her home.
Wendy was born in Alamance County on November 14, 1955, to the late John Lewis McCormick and Annie Ruth Arnette McCormick. She is survived by her husband, James Bernard Cobb Jr., her daughter, Elizabeth Anne Cobb [Joey] Bradley, her son, James Bernard [Jana] Cobb III, and her son, Patrick Vernon Cobb. Her grandchildren who adored her are, Caleb David Bradley, Kevin James Bradley, Christian Thomas Cobb, Sicilia Giana Cobb, and Baxter Cobb. She is also survived by siblings, Carl [Brenda] McCormick and Connie McCormick Gerringer and is the proud aunt of several nieces and nephews.
Wendy and her husband James owned Cobb Transfer, LLC since 1992. She was the President and C.E.O, as well as, a driver of the tractor-trailers they owned! When Wendy was not working, she was in the kitchen cooking up some of her famous dishes, including, but not limited to, mac n cheese, spaghetti and “nanner puddin.” The kitchen was her favorite place to gather with family to share her witty banter. Everyone who knew Wendy, knew that when she said, “Bottom line,” you listened! She had a strong personality, and an even stronger love and devotion for her family.
The family will host a “Celebration of Life” at her home at 622 James St., Burlington, N.C from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm on Saturday, December 1, 2018. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to bring gift cards to restaurants such as, Smithfields, Texas Roadhouse, Waffle House and Biscuitville, so James Cobb Jr. can eat at some of their favorite spots! An online register book is available to sign for memories/condolences at www.omegafsc.com.
