Wanda “Elaine” Wilken    1957-2019

 

Wanda “Elaine” Wilken 62, of Elon, passed away on Sunday December 28, 2019 at The Hospice Home & Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell in Burlington, NC. She was known as Elaine to all her family and friends. She was born on June 12, 1957, in Brunswick, GA to Andrew Barney Harper Sr., and Helen Lucille (DePratter) Harper.

 

Elaine grew up in Gas City, IN where she graduated high school and worked for Owens Illinois for several years. She then moved to Phoenix AZ, where she met her husband Robert. While living in Phoenix, their daughter Jamie was born. She and her family moved several times. First to Gas City, IN for 2 years, Piper City, IL for 8 years, and Bonney Lake, WA for 13 years. Elaine and her husband then moved to Elon, NC where she lived for the past 7 years.

 

Elaine worked for Walmart for the past 15 years as Deli Manager. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, watching murder mysteries, spending time on her deck, and spending time with her family and friends.

 

Elaine is survived by her husband of 38 years, Robert Wilken of Elon NC, and her daughter Jamie Lee Worthen of Federal Way, WA. Also, three brothers, Barney Harper of Noblesville, IN, Gary Harper of Gas City, IN and Roney Harper of Toledo, OH. She is preceded in death by her parents Andrew Barney Harper Sr., and Helen Lucille Harper.

 

The family would like to thank the staff at The Hospice Home in Burlington, NC for their care and compassion during the final weeks of Elaine’s life.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Elaine’s memory to The Hospice Home, the American Cancer Society, or to the charity of your choice.
