Mebane,
Ronald P. Johnson, 81 of Mebane passed away peacefully on Saturday November 16, 2019 at the VA Medical Center Hospice in Durham after a six-week illness.
Ronald was born in Griffin, Georgia on March 17, 1938 the son of the late WH Johnson and Faye Brown Johnson. He was a US Navy veteran and spent the majority of his professional career in the trucking industry. He eventually retired from Southeastern Freight. Ronald had many lifelong friends from his time spent in several areas of the industry. He was a man of great faith and played piano for many church services where he met the love of his life at age 16 while playing in the musical part of the service. On August 20, 1956 he married the love of his life Barbara Jean Madaris who preceded him in death on October 29, 2016.
Surviving are his daughters, Regina Whitley and Laurie Johnson (Holt) both of Mebane; four grandchildren, Dina Johnson (Julian), Adam McIver, Heather Smith (Bryan) and Kirstie Whitley; four great grandchildren and his sister Patricia Dean (Patsy) of Dalton, GA.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday November 20th at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Mebane with Pastor J.E."Chip" Sellew, Jr officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:30 until 12:45 prior to the service at the church. Sign an online register book at www.omegafsc.com.
