Roger Porter Obituary

Roger Wayne ( Spud ) Porter passed into the loving arms of the Lord June 6th surrounded by his family who loved him dearly. He was born May 30th, 1948 in Lexington, NC but lived most of his life in Orlando Florida. He was preceded in death by parents Frank and Irene Porter, children Tracy Schmidt and Travis Porter , sisters Bonnie Stephens, Rebecca Van Horn, Janie Birchett and brothers Henry and Eugene Porter. It was with honor that he served his country in Vietnam and the Gulf war, retiring after 22 years in the army. He was employed by Orlando Utilities and the city of Orlando prior to returning to NC in 2007. He leaves behind his beloved fiancee Pat Graham, daughter Cecily Meeks, grandchildren Ava and Rain, sisters Jo Anne West, Kathy Watts, Ruth Lucas, brothers Larry, Doug, Jimmy, Pete and Kickie Porter. Also mourning his master is his faithful companion Mac. No formal services are planned per his request.
