Robert Vincent Paul

May 24, 1928 ~ November 7, 2017 (age 89) 89 Years Old

Robert V. Paul, 89, of Queens  New York, passed away peacefully on Tuesday November 7, 2017, at the Alamance Regional Hospital in Burlington NC. Born in NYC to Robert and Amy Paul in Brooklyn, he lived most of his life in the Washington DC area, and retired in Graham, North Carolina.

 

Bob was a brilliant man who loved books, crossword puzzles, writing, classical music, keeping baseball scores, and collecting coins. He was also a consummate public speaker and member of Toastmasters International, and a chess champion who won many trophies. After World War 2 he was stationed in Europe and served as a liaison between the US Army and Germany. Later he moved to DC and worked as a grants research manager for the NIH in Bethesda Maryland, and in Washington DC for the EPA. While in DC he also directed church choirs and a light opera company.

 

Bob was a devoted husband to Joan Paul who died 4 years ago , and is survived by his two loving daughters, Daphne Perry, and Debi Seals, by his brother Larry Paul, five grandchildren: Paul Mc Bane Roberts, William Vadnais, Peter Roberts, Ramon Brito, and Jennifer Brito,  4 great grandchildren: Ivai Brito, Alex Brito Vysotsky, Max and Adrian Brito Vysotsky, and various nephews and nieces.

 

The family will receive friends and other family members on Saturday December 2,  from 2:00 until 4:00 PM at the family home in Graham, North Carolina to honor his life.
