Mrs. Mary Lee Turner, 97, of Yanceyville, NC passed at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Friday, August 10, 2018. She was the daughter of the late James Curtis and the late Mary Bouseman Curtis of Detroit, Michigan. She was reared by the late Harry and Edna Bouseman in Hardy, Virginia. She was married to the late Watlington Turner, Sr. for many years before his death.
Mary worked at Roanoke Hotel in Virginia and for Hanover Mills in Yanceyville as a Textile Cone Operator several years before retiring. She was a member of Halesford Methodist Church in Moneta, Virginia. Mary loved to cook, do gardening, sew and was very happy watching Western Movies. Mary was also a very private person.
Mary leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter; Shirley M Turner of Burlington; two sons; Watlington Turner, Jr. of Yanceyville and Charles Turner of Greensboro. Also survived by the delight of her life, her granddaughter Janay (Justin) Powell, and two other grandchildren in Youngstown, Ohio and one grandchild in Houston, TX., and eight great grandchildren, one sister-in-law, Clarice Turner of Newport News, VA, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Besides her parents and husband, Mary was predeceased by her son James Turner, daughter Dorothy Childress, brothers James Curtis of Detroit MI, and Charles Curtis of Hardy VA, two grandsons and one granddaughter.
