Mebane
Kenneth Grey Hunt, 70, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on October 30th. He was born February 17, 1949, in Leaksville, NC, to the late Thomas Jefferson and Grey Vernon Hunt. Ken remains a follower of Jesus Christ who foreknew of his entire life from birth to death.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Susan and his son Joe; his brothers Tom (Mary), Gary, George and sister Jean Hunt Birckhead; and his brother-in-law Dick Caudle (Lee). He was preceded in death by his sister-in-law Patt Smith Hunt and brother-in-law Tom Birckhead.
Ken served his country in Vietnam in the US Army from 1968 – 1970 where he trained as an OR Technician. Once home he completed nursing school and began his career in the operating room. In 1979 he joined the OR staff at UNC Hospitals and retired in 2010. Ken had a true gift of empathy for the patients under his care and a unique ability to run the OR—his way or the highway! He enjoyed working with the NC Baptist Men’s Disaster Relief and Dental Bus and as a Red Cross volunteer. He enjoyed growing banana trees and was no doubt a true-blue Tar Heel through and through.
Anyone who met Ken immediately experienced his wit and sense of humor. He never left anyone guessing as to his opinion on any matter.
Ken was a loving husband, father and friend to many, but most of all he loved the Lord. May all the saints rejoice that he is at peace with his Savior: John 3:16.
All are welcome to a celebration of Ken’s life on November 5 at 3:00p.m. at FBC Mebane. Family visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
