"Butch" John Fisher Skenes III, passed away at home peacefully in his sleep in the early morning of January 1st, 2019.
Born in Clovis, New Mexico on March 17th, 1958, Butch was raised as a military brat who settled in Alamance County. He was employed as a carpenter for all his life, owning his own business Once Again Remodeling. For years he struggled with addiction and alcoholism but with God's grace and mercy, he was able to kiss his Savior's face on the 10 year anniversary of his sobriety.
Surviving are his wife Christi of the home, daughter Kristi Eakes of Graham, son John F.Skenes IV of Burlington, and daughter Miranda Skenes of Sylva, NC. Other survivors include 3 stepson John, Joshua and Phillip Baulding, five grandchildren Little John, Lauren, Kamryn, Chandler and Cayleigh and siblings Shirley Skenes, Marie Skenes Terrell, Diane Collins, and Rhiana Skenes, all of Alamance County. He was preceded in death by his father Reverend John F. Skenes Jr., mother Aline Boley Skenes, and sister Terrie Iniguez.
The family will receive friends on Monday January 7th at True Light Baptist Church, 500 2nd Street in Gibsonville from noon to 1:30. A Memorial Service will follow directly after, being officiated by Reverend Tommy Marley.
