Welcome to the memorial page for

Glenn "Butch" Rector

February 12, 1947 ~ September 9, 2017 (age 70) 70 Years Old

Glenn Fielder Rector (you probably knew him as “Butch” or as his classmates called him “Doogan”) passed away in his home in Graham, North Carolina, on September 9th, 2017.

A celebration of life service is scheduled for Friday September 15, 2017 from 6-8 pm at Omega Funeral Service & Crematory Chapel, 2120 May Drive Burlington, NC 27215, All are welcome to attend and share stories with family and friends. Glenn asked for laughter, rather than sadness, to be the format of his memorial.

Glenn was born 70 years ago on February 12th to Mary Sybil Fielder Rector and Roscoe Edward Rector of Fries, Virginia. A textile worker for most of his life Glenn moved his small family from their home in Woodlawn Virginia to Burlington North Carolina when the Burlington Industries Mill in Galax closed in 1980. Most recently Glenn enjoyed his retirement in his backyard garden and as a part-time grid man and pit technician with Carolina Competition Sports and PASS South racing. He never met a stranger and was eager to talk your ear off if you'd let him. It was hard to be in a bad mood around Glenn, he always had a story to tell and was quick with a joke to lighten your spirit.

Glenn is survived by his wife and best friend Tammy Stewart of Graham, NC; his son Tony Rector and wife Angela of Jamestown, NC; his grand-children Hunter, Sage, Jade and Ivy of Jamestown, NC.; his brother Captain Ross Edward Rector Jr., Chaplain USN, Retired and wife Bonnie of Charleston, SC.
