Clyde Smith, 85 of Mebane passed away on Sunday October 28, 2018 at home. 

Clyde was born in Cumberland County on December 8, 1932 the son of the late Howard Smith and Merlie Jane Garmon Smith. He worked as a truck driver for many years and was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was preceded in death by his sister Betty Joyce Price, brother Herbie Smith and his beloved dog Casey Jack.

Surviving are his wife Mary Ellen Lee Smith; daughter Diane King, (Nelson) of Mebane; Two sons Edward "Buck" Smith of Mebane; and David Smith (Nicole) of Burlington;  Five grand children, Eleven great-grand children and One great-great grand child;  Two sisters Mary Ann Jackson (Edgar) of Fayetteville and Kathleen Freeze of Fayetteville

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday at Northside Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and all other times at the home. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell 918 Chapel Hill Road Burlington, NC 27215.
