Katherine Moyers (Roberson) Holton

Katherine Moyers Roberson Holton died on April 22, 2024 at The Forest at Duke Retirement Community. She was 105 years old.

Mrs. Holton had a rich and full life, spending her younger years in Texas, where she was born and raised, and then moving to Washington, D.C. She was married to her beloved husband John Watson Holton in 1941, and they enjoyed 56 years of married life together until his death in 1997. While living in Washington, she was active in church, civic, and charitable affairs while raising three sons.

In 1994 they moved to The Forest at Duke, where she continued to work actively as a volunteer in various capacities at the The Forest and providing service to her church and community.

Mrs. Holton is survived by her son John Watson Holton, Jr. and his wife Jena Couch Holton of Murphy, Texas; her son Charles Roberson Holton and his wife Anta Hendon Holton of Durham, North Carolina; and her son James Courtney Holton of Durham, North Carolina. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Jenevieve Moyers Holton Hughes, Jacqueline Grace Holton Morrison, Andrew Hendon Holton, Verba Roberson Holton, and John Wallace Holton; as well as nine great-grandchildren: Adelyn Grace Hughes, Holton Paul Hughes, Matilda Catherine Morrison, Miles Watson Morrison, Benjamin Bamforth Holton, George Hendon Holton, Charles Brady Holton, Abigail Ann Holton, and Eliza Katherine Holton – and numerous other relatives.

A memorial service will be held at the Cole Mill Road Church of Christ in Durham on May 18, 2024 at 10:00 AM, and the family will receive visitors in the foyer thereafter. The service will also be broadcast on Zoom at: zoom.us/wc/join/84108279181 Burial will take place at the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Abilene, Texas at the gravesite of her husband.
