William Oscar Stanley Sr., age 71, of Burlington, North Carolina, passed away Saturday Night, December 30, 2017 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. Born October 17, 1946 in Smithfield, North Carolina. He was the son of late James S. Stanley and Annie Stanley.

William was a painter for 50 years. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, feeding the birds, football, Nascar and UNC basketball.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Connie Y. Stanley; along with four children; William O. Stanley Jr and wife Johnna of Burlington, North Carolina, Brandon Stanley of Burlington, North Carolina, Marcie Murray and husband Tony of Burlington, North Carolina, and Falisha Stanley of Washington, North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Kim Madden, Shawn Stanley, Austin Madden, Ben Horner, Cody Smith, Richard Murray, and Emma Jones; two great grandchildren; Joslynn Stanley and Joshua Carter Madden; five brothers and sisters Ed Stanley of Burlington, North Carolina, Jimmy Harris of Burlington, North Carolina, Ann Furr of Snow Camp, North Carolina, Sandra Stanley of Burlington, North Carolina, Larue Long of Kentucky; and many other loving nieces, nephews and relatives.

He was proceeded in death by Sherman Stanley of Smithfield, North Carolina.
