Sadie Suggs Hatley, 92,  of 217 Trail Eight, Burlington, NC passed away on Thursday November 17, 2016 at Hospice and Palliative Care of  Alamance-Caswell.

Survived by one son, Trip Hatley and wife Pat of the home, two grandchildren, Andy Hatley and wife Kari of Charlotte, NC and Jillian Hatley Glawson and husband Greg of Cumming, GA. Four great grandchildren, Eva, James, Caroline and Owen. Two sisters, Alice Pollock of Columbia, SC and Kay Stalcup of Elberton, GA. Preceded in death by husband, James Houston Hatley, Jr. and daughter, Karen Moyle Hatley.

Sadie Suggs Hatley was born in Rowan County, NC on June 12, 1924, the daughter of the late T.Frank Suggs and Sadie Moyle Suggs. She owned and operated Hatley's Hobbies for many years. She taught craft classes at ACC. She was an active member of Macedonia Lutheran Church and the Hoe and Hope Garden Club. She served on the Board of Twin Lakes Retirement Community for years. She was Woman of the Year by Burlington Civitan Club in 1973. She served the Chamber of Commerce as President of the Women's Division in 1973. Sadie was responsible for the start of the All Night After Prom Party held at the YMCA  for Walter Williams High School. She was an avid bridge player and belonged to several bridge clubs.

A Celebration of Life  graveside service will be held at PineHill Cemetery, Monday, November 21, 2016 at 2:00 PM. With Rev. Suzanne Shoffner officiating. The family will receive friends at the home, 217 Trail Eight, Burlington, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Macedonia Lutheran Church, 421 W. Front St., Burlington, NC.
