Mr. Robert G. Willey Jr., 69, of Burlington, and formerly of Elkin, NC, passed away April 30, 2017, from complications of Parkinsons.

Born in Elkin on February 27, 1948, he was the son of the late Robert George Willey and Laura Juanita Gentry Willey. 

Robert was a 1965 graduate of Elkin High School where he played golf. He then attended Gardner Webb College and transferred to Catawba College where he majored in accounting and graduated in 1969. Robert worked as a CPA, CFA, and various other accounting roles over the years. He was an avid golfer, former marathon runner and an enthusiast of all sports. Robert was an active member of St Marks Church in Burlington, NC where he was currently serving as the Controller.  He volunteered numerous hours of his time in the to help the community. 

Surviving are three children, David G. Willey and his wife Jessica Willey of Charlotte, NC, Edith E. Willey of San Diego, CA,  and Ann E. Willey and her husband Jeff Douglas of Charlotte, NC; his brother Jimmy Willey of Elkin, NC; and four grandchildren Nathan and Connor Willey and River and Carson Douglas, all whom he loved dearly. 

A Celebration of Life service will be held Wednesday May 17 at 12:30 p.m. at St. Marks Church with Rev. Ben Bishop and Rev. Fil Anderson officiating.  The family will receive friends after the service at the church. 

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd, Burlington, NC.
