Nancy Broome Howes Robinson, Chapel Hill, formerly of Tucker, GA - died Saturday October 28, 2017. 

Nancy was born in Knoxville, TN on May 31, 1939, the daughter of Robert and Margaret (Broome) Howes, who preceded her in death. She is also pre-deceased by Jonathan Broome Howes, the big brother she looked up to her entire life. 

She graduated from Central High School in Knoxville and earned a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics from Wittenberg University in Springfield, OH. 

Nancy loved working with children. She spent her career teaching pre-school and kindergarten in Tucker and Lilburn, GA. After retiring to Chapel Hill in 1999, she led children's tours at NC Botanical Garden and UNC hospitals as a volunteer. 

For many years, Nancy's smiling face greeted customers at Sears Northlake Mall in Tucker. In retirement, her retail experience was used volunteering in the gift shops at UNC Hospitals, NC Botanical Garden and Carol Woods Retirement Community in Chapel Hill. 

Nancy took an active role in both St Andrews Presbyterian Church in Tucker, and University Presbyterian Church in Chapel Hill. She served in many capacities, including Elder, communion coordinator, Sunday School teacher, choir, Presbyterian Women, and various search and nominating committees. 

Nancy's interests included her family, reading, walking, water aerobics, and travel, particularly to the British Isles. She made many friends pursuing her pastimes. She was an active member of University Woman's Club and served in several different roles on the board. 

Nancy was devoted to her family and friends and is survived by her daughter Sallie Robinson of Charlotte NC; son Chris Robinson (Ginny) and grandchildren Wyler and Shiloh of Belton, TX; sister-in-law Mary Howes; nieces Anne Anderson (David) and Betsy Howes-Bean (Chuck) and nephew Bo Howes (Pat); great-nieces and -nephews Margaret, KK, and David Anderson, Benjamin and Becca Bean, and Jonathan (Gracie), Max and Matthew Howes; and her Tennessee and Massachusetts cousins. 

A celebration of Nancy's life will be held at University Presbyterian Church in Chapel Hill on Friday November 3 at 2pm with a reception following at the church. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial gifts to University Presbyterian Church, St Andrews Presbyterian Church, NC Botanical Garden or Triangle Land Conservancy.
