Mary France Jones, 86, formerly of 3127 Alamance Church Road, died peacefully on April 12, 2016 at Brookdale Memory Care Unit on Lawndale Drive in Greensboro.

She was born on August 17, 1929 in Guilford County to Ira Clarence Jones, Sr. and Velna Georgia Shoffner Jones.  She was employed by McFarland’s Poultry of Greensboro and Hardin’s Florist in Liberty .  She was a life-long member of Mt. Hope United Church of Christ, a member of the Gleaner’s Sunday School Class, and a member of the Good Earth Garden Club.  Although stricken with arthritis and other disabilities, she was able to create beautiful cross-stitch works and loved to crochet.  She also enjoyed and took pride in tending to her yard and her flowers.

She is survived by her sister, Velna Jean Greeson and husband Dewey of Julian, as well as many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers George David Jones, Sr., Henry Floyd Jones, Ira Clarence Jones, Jr., Harry Crawford Jones, Jack Michael Jones, and sisters Edith Irene Jones Shoffner, Blondie Louise Jones Greeson, and infant Nellie Mae Jones.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 15, 2016 at Mt. Hope United Church of Christ with Rev. Lloyd Spencer officiating.  The family will receive friends following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Community Home Care and Hospice, 2730 Tucker Street - Suite 600, Burlington, NC 27215. 

The family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Brookdale Memory Care Unit in Greensboro and Community Home Care & Hospice of Burlington.  Also, thank you to the family members, church members, and friends for your visits and cards while she was a resident at Brookdale.
