Hillsborough,

Margie Ruth Long, 75 of Hillsborough passed away peacefully on Monday October 3, 2016 at Alamance Health Care in Burlington. 

Margie was born in Edgecombe County on October 5, 1940 the daughter of Abner and Maggie Carlise O’Neal. Margie loved flowers and her family. She was able to travel with her daughter, Connie and her family to many places which she never imagined she'd see.  She also enjoyed talking with Sylvia's bird, Sunshine.  It always seemed to brighten her day. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Roger Long and two grandchildren, Timothy and Caroline Ray.

Surviving are four daughters, Sylvia Hunt, Teresa Daniel and husband Mike, Connie Plummer and husband Chris and Lori Ray and husband Coley; two sisters, Judy Farmer and Brenda O’Neal; eight grandchildren, Erin Butler, Jennifer Eaton, Jerry Lee Hunt, Jamie Daniel, Eli Plummer, Rebecca Plummer, Scott Ray and Sarah Ray; two great grandchildren, Adam Eaton and Kaeden Eaton.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2 pm on Friday at Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery, 3216 Orange Grove Rd, Hillsborough, NC 27278.After the service, the family will gather at 416-B Hwy 70A East, Hillsborough, NC 27278.  Sign an online register book at www.omegafsc.com. 

The family would like to thank Margie’s niece Michelle Tripp for all she has done for the family and also to Shannon Starling for being a good companion to Margie while she was sick.  Arrangements are in the care of Omega Funeral Service and Crematory.
