Edith (Edie) Sarah Ellington, age 74, of Burlington passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at White Oak Manor.  She was born on November 12, 1942  in Delaware to the late Earl and Hazel Williamson. 

Edie dedicated her career to teaching children.  A member of Hope Baptist Church, she was a devoted Christian and a shining example of a how a woman can leave her mark on others just by knowing them - there will never be another. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald Williamson and David Williamson and a grandson, Landon Blue.

Edie is survived by her husband William (Billy) Ellington and four daughters Susan Krouse of Pennsylvania, Donna Simpson, Kimberly Ingram, Michelle Blue all of Delaware and one step-daughter, Donna Ellington Smith of Burlington;  12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; brothers, Earl Williamson, Timmy Williamson, Steven Williamson of Delaware; sisters, Shirley Meacham of Michigan, Ruthann Wagner and Ginny Scott both of Delaware. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 8, 2017 at Hope Baptist Church, 710 West Main Street, Haw River with Rev. Frederick Bunts officiating.
